avast! Antivirus?

Ok. I’m having some problems with Avast. I’ve been using it for a while, and now all of a sudden it won’t start. When i try to activate or open it says that “The AAVM subsystem detected a RPC error” and that the operation could not be completed. I can’t even access any help menus or anything. I have no idea wut to do.

Chosen Answer:

Try using the Avast Uninstall Utility here, http://www.avast.com/eng/avast-uninstall-utility.html

and then reinstall it.

Uninstall avast – at least for now. It sounds like you may have a virus that deactivated avast or it found something it can’t fix.

Something on your machine is causing your problem. Start at the top of this list. Install the products one at a time and then install all of their updates. Have each one complete a full scan before proceeding to the next one. One of these *should* fix your problem. Keep in mind that everyone of these things is either free of charge or open source. When you’re done, be sure to go to Windows Update and apply ALL of the patches.
