i just installed my avast 6 software yesterday. after i installed it,i restarted my pc. avast sidebar gadget appeared then, i closed it. then when i restarted my pc, my startup is slower then the gadget appeared again, i removed it again, then restarted my pc, same thing happens, slower startup, the gadget appeared again. hope someone can help. thanks.
@JP, i uninstalled it, then when i reboot my comp, the gadget is there again.

This isn’t an answer as much as it is a concurrence. I am having the same problem and would like to know how to fix it.
I’ve uninstalled the gadget, and while it doesn’t appear in the list of gadgets, it still shows up at every boot-up.
After a little more research I discovered this:

Try going to your gadgets control panel, and uninstall the Avast! gadget (right click the gadget icon). That’s what I did.
